I think the American release of this movie changed the name to "Leap!" but i'm not 100% sure. Anyway, this is a very cute and fun movie about young orphans in France finding and pursuing their dreams. Nothing really new on that front. The animation is beautiful but when it gets to the dancing numbers, it seems obvious they didn't use any motion-capture as the movements are heavily robotic and artificial. That's a problem when the movie is about dancing. When they slow it down, it's very graceful, but at normal speed it doesn't look...

Let's start with an admission: Empire Strikes Back isn't my favourite Star Wars film. Return of the Jedi is. And my favourite scene in Return of the Jedi is the beginning, in Jabba's palace and on to the Pit of Carkoon. I like it because of all the things in Star Wars it's by far the most alien and esoteric of all and because it's full of huge, slobbering monsters. Tons of fun and laughs, and my 6-year old daughter LOVED it (wants to see it again). Not QUITE as good as 2014's Lego Movie but almost. I had a ton of laugh-out-loud moments along with this one other guy in the theatre (we seemed to enjoy the same jokes) and each time my girl asks me, 'what's so funny?". It's one of those movies that's perfect for adults and children alike on very different levels. Lots of really special moments (I can't explain the cinematography of lonely Batman watching lobster heating up in the...

Hidden Fences Figures tells the true story of the contributions of African-American women at NASA at the beginning of the Space Race. It's very well made, put-together and inspirational. I'm having trouble deciding if this is a 2016 or a 2017 movie. If it is a 2016 movie, it wouldn't have made my top ten anyway so no regrets there. I have a friend who liked it more than La La Land but I think he's cray-cray. It's funny to see how type-cast Octavia Spencer is getting. I think she's doomed...
